Ashes urns and caskets


After a cremation there comes the decision about how your loved one’s cremation ashes should be laid to rest. We are able to provide comprehensive advice regarding the many options available. If they are to be taken home or buried in a cemetery or churchyard plot, there is a choice to be made of the type of container. For cemetery or churchyard burials there is normally a three-way choice of container:

  • A wooden casket such as the “Warwick” solid oak casket (illustrated). It comes complete with an engraved nameplate.
  • A metal urn (illustrated).
  • Cremation ashes can be returned loose to the soil, in which case the temporary plastic urn provided by the crematorium (illustrated) is the best choice.

Plastic urn

This is the style of temporary container that is provided (free-of-charge) by Hastings Crematorium when ashes are collected from there. Although not the most aesthetically pleasing object, it is the best type of container if ashes are held temporarily prior to scattering.
